Fragments of ceramics created over a ten-year period are selected and assembled to reflect a personal ontological history. Seeing and Insight

Employing abstraction and collage, and combining ceramic ephemera with varied histories, I delve into past traumas as a form of catharsis and healing. The mosaic wall series, “Seeing and Insight,” dissects and reframes several events in my recent past with new information, providing a larger context with which to understand myself and my narrative. Composed of bathroom tiles as a contemporary stand-in for the traditional religious confessional and architectural tiles as a symbol of patriarchal institutional thought, this post-#metoo series finally tells the truth of my personal history within a salacious system of lies and oppression while in pursuit of beauty, wisdom, and strength.
